Christmas is here！ Tainan’s Xinying Cultural Center lights up a 15-meter-tall Christmas tree

The Christmas season is approaching. Following the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the Cultural Heritage Bureau Plaza on December 7, the Tainan City Government has now, on the 12th of this month, collaborated with the Tainan Diocese of the Catholic Church to illuminate a 15-meter-tall Christmas tree standing at the Xinying Cultural Center.

The Tourism Bureau stated that this year marks the first time since the county-city merger that a lighting ceremony has been held in Xinying. The main Christmas tree’s lighting design features a serene and peaceful blue-and-white color scheme, complemented by multi-stage light changes and the white architecture of the Xinying Cultural Center, giving it a rather elegant appearance.

This year’s Christmas light zones include four major areas: “Tainan Railway Station (Open the Door to Joy),” “Tang Deh-chang Memorial Park and National Taiwan Literature Museum (Hymn to Happiness),” “Anping Fishing Port (Peaceful Anping),” and “Xinying Cultural Center (Lighting Up Xinying).” The Christmas tree in front of the Xinying Cultural Center and the surrounding light zone near Xinying Railway Station, after being lit on December 12, will remain on display until January 25 of next year (2015). The lighting hours are from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. Visitors attending the lighting ceremony are advised to take the Yellow Trunk Line, Yellow 6, or Yellow 7 bus routes and get off at the Cultural Center stop to experience Tainan’s night scene and admire the interplay of twinkling lights and the darkness.
