The Dongcheng District Tourism Association of Beijing came to Taiwan on the 13th to promote“Cool Fun Tour of the Imperial City”benefits brochure, which contains discount coupons from over 70 Beijing merchants. Following the guidebook to explore Beijing can save you more than NT$20,000.

The organizers said this discount booklet was launched after in-depth research into the preferences of Taiwanese travelers. Participating merchants includethe Red Theatre showcasing Chinese kung fu, Madame Tussauds for interactive experiences with celebrity wax figures, Wangfujing Department Store for one-stop shopping of Beijing souvenirs, and Beijing Hotel, one of the APEC Summit’s official reception hotels, among others, covering everything from dining, accommodation, shopping to entertainment. In addition to coupons, the brochure also includes merchant profiles and maps, helping tourists to “enjoy more, faster, better, and cheaper” experiences in Dongcheng District of Beijing. The total discount amount exceeds NT$20,000.

The organizers invited three master artisans of Beijing folk crafts—skilled in handmade kites, fire-painted gourds, and dough figurines—to create handicrafts on-site, treating the public to a visual feast. They also planned the “Dare to Conquer the Imperial City, Triple Gifts Await” event, allowing participants to experience making traditional Beijing folk art.

The travel-loving momJia Yongjiealso attended the event. She joked that ever since becoming a mother, she’s always on the lookout for good deals, and she learned about this Beijing travel coupon event as soon as it launched. Reflecting on her trip to Beijing two years ago, Jia Yongjie said the most memorable spots were the Great Wall and Nanluoguxiang. She was deeply captivated by the majestic ancient wall and the alleyways filled with stories of old Beijing. As a mother of three, she also shared some insights on traveling with kids: “Very young children might not be interested in historical and cultural things, but my eldest daughter is now in middle to high school, so I’m considering taking her to Beijing next year.”

Qiu Pengxin, Deputy Director of the Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism, mentioned that Taipei also offers convenient deals for independent travelers, such as unlimited-use Taipei One-Day Passes and discount coupons for souvenir shops. Last year, 16,000 Taipei One-Day Passes were sold, receiving an outstanding response. Inspired by the “Cool Fun Tour of the Imperial City” event, he plans to expand the scale of Taipei’s independent travel benefits next year,such as collaborating with Le Méridien and National Palace Museum to offer discount vouchers for high-end afternoon tea loved by ladies, etc., making Taipei trips even more appealing to both domestic and international tourists.
