Tohoku 311 Gratitude Festival in Northeast Japan – Giveaway of Air Tickets Every Day in Taiwan

To express gratitude for the Taiwanese people’s donation of over 20 billion Japanese yen (approximately NT$6.2 billion) following the 311 Great East Japan Earthquake, the Interchange Association, Japan stated that starting from the 19th of this month, the “Tohoku 6 Prefectures & Cities Gratitude Festival” will be held in Taiwan. In addition to experiencing traditional Japanese culture, there will also be a lucky draw for round-trip air tickets on-site, and the public in Taiwan are welcome to join in the celebration.

In recent years, exchanges between Taiwan and Japan have become increasingly frequent. To show appreciation for Taiwan’s assistance three and a half years ago during the 311 Great East Japan Earthquake, the Interchange Association, Japan has collaborated with six prefectures in Japan’s Tohoku region—Iwate, Yamagata, Aomori, Akita, Miyagi, and Fukushima—as well as the Tohoku Transport Bureau and the Tohoku Branch of the Japan Tourism Promotion Organization, to organize a gratitude festival themed “Because of You.”

The aim of this event is to let the people of Taiwan know that the residents of Tohoku still deeply remember the friendship and kindness shown by the Taiwanese people at that time, and that those heartfelt emotions remain in everyone’s heart. Now, they want to transform these emotions into concrete actions by inviting all Taiwanese to experience their vitality and hospitality.

The “Tohoku 6 Prefectures & Cities Gratitude Festival” will take place from the 19th to the 22nd of this month at the Taipei Expo Park Flower Exhibition Hall. The event will feature food tastings, experiences with traditional Japanese clothing, performances by Japanese singers, and a lucky draw for round-trip air tickets to Japan, allowing the people of Taiwan to feel the strong bond of friendship between Taiwan and Japan while also exploring the entire Tohoku region.
