No entry without a ticket！ Dawn-watching hidden gem "Tainan Er'liao" implements crowd control for New Year's countdown

With a four-day flexible New Year's holiday, major countdown destinations across the country are expected to see large crowds. The Tainan Er'liao, an online-famous dawn-watching spot, has introduced a "pre-ticket collection" system this year to manage crowd sizes in response to overwhelming visitor numbers that could impact the quality of the dawn-viewing experience and safety concerns. Additionally, in coordination with the ticket-checking system, the organizers have expanded traffic control measures for this New Year's dawn event. Visitors planning to explore the surrounding areas are advised to take note.

Organizers stated that even with crowd control measures in place over the past two years, around 4,000 people still flocked to the mountain to watch the sunrise. This year, due to construction at the event venue "Sun Viewing Slope Embankment," the overall visitor capacity will be reduced, along with fewer parking spaces in the Hujuli Camp area. To ensure public safety and maintain event quality, access will be managed through a "pre-ticket collection" system—no ticket, no entry into the event’s controlled area.

From now until the 31st, during office hours, the public can collect free entry tickets at 12 locations across Taiwan, including Tourism Bureau service centers (Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung offices), the Dongshan Service Area on National Freeway No. 3, and designated Tainan tourism service centers (Xinying Railway Station, Tainan Railway Station, Tainan Airport, THSR Tainan Station, Zhenan Moon World, and Anping). Each person can collect up to 4 tickets per day, and a valid ticket is required to board shuttle buses or enter the event’s controlled area.

Shuttle pick-up will be at the Hujuli Camp area. Uphill shuttles run from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM, offering one-way service from Hujuli Camp to Ganglin Police Station only. Downhill shuttles operate from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, providing one-way service from Ganglin Police Station back to Hujuli Camp. To reduce waiting times, ticket holders can refer to the serial number in the upper right corner of their ticket and the suggested boarding time for their number range when planning their arrival.
