A new creation at Sweden’s Icehotel — “Ice Leaves” jointly crafted by 28 artists from 11 countries

Located in the small village of Jukkasjärvi in far northern Sweden, you may not be familiar with the name, but you’ve probably seen it featured in various media reports over the years. That’s because the area is home to the world-renowned Icehotel, which is rebuilt every year and designed by international artists. This year marks its 28th edition. What surprises await inside this year? Let’s take an exclusive look ahead of time!

Every winter, Sweden’s Icehotel always stands out for its ever-changing designs.According to Lonely Planet, this year, 28 artists from 11 countries will collaborate on the design. As early as April last year, the hotel announced the design competition, and now that winter has arrived, it’s time to bring those ideas to life.

In the new hotel, you can see an“ice leaf”sculpture at the center of some guest rooms, featuring a very elegant design. Of course, all materials used in the rooms are ice. Each year, the hotel typically builds about 55 guest rooms, including deluxe rooms, ice rooms, and family rooms, using roughly 1,000 tons of ice harvested from the Torne River. Additionally, there’s an ice church this year, which will open on December 25th for wedding ceremonies.
