Flight delayed? Don’t worry—Tokyo Narita Airport’s 9-hour rest capsule hotel has you covered

The “9h Hotel” offers different prices based on how long guests stay: an overnight stay costs around NT$1,300, with check-out required by 10 a.m. the next day; simply resting for two hours costs NT$500; taking a shower is about NT$350. One special rule is that you can only stay inside the capsule for nine hours—one hour for a shower, seven hours for sleeping, and one hour to relax.

Upon check-in, guests receive a locker key, a towel, and sleepwear, all of which must be returned upon check-out. Rooms are color-coded by gender—red for women and black for men. Each room is equipped with an international sleep system that uses lighting to help you fall asleep and wake up.

Many assume that narrow capsule hotels must be uncomfortable to stay in, but surprisingly, guests who have stayed there say the capsules are much more comfortable than expected—even more so than regular single beds. The 9h Hotel, which opened just this July, was created to address the lack of “short rest” facilities at Narita Airport. This new type of airport hotel is truly a blessing for Taiwanese travelers who frequently visit Japan.
