Stop being a difficult guest!

Travel should be a joyful experience, but many people seem to forget proper behavior and basic manners when they step out of their country and into a new one as “tourists.”

Many such incidents occur at the hotels where we stay daily, and many hotel staff say they are often left astonished by tourists’ poor etiquette and unreasonable demands. Are you one of them? Check out the list compiled by American website thrillist.com titled:“Annoying Behaviors That Infuriate Hotel Staff”and make sure you don’t repeat these mistakes on your next hotel stay.

1. Assuming hotel staff know everything.
2. Making excessive personal requests, such as celebrating your wedding anniversary on a private beach.
3. Exaggerating minor issues, such as making a big fuss over dead batteries in a remote control.
4. Threatening to leave a “bad review” online at the drop of a hat.
5. Leaving trash in the hallway, like pizza boxes, soda cans, and used condoms.
6. Complaining about why breakfast and Wi-Fi aren’t included in the room rate.
7. Requesting room service outside of service hours and ordering items not on the menu.
8. Refusing to admit using the “adult amenities” and then refusing to pay for them.
9. Knowing full well what room category you booked, but demanding a better one upon arrival.
10. Trying to check in at an inappropriate time and then blaming the hotel for the room not being ready.
11. Asking for a discount from the hotel just because it’s raining.
12. Talking on the phone throughout the check-in process and then blaming the hotel staff for not explaining things clearly.
13. Claiming that items in the room’s minibar were already missing upon check-in rather than admitting you consumed them.
14. Trying to squeeze 10 people into a 4-person room just to save money.
15. Cursing in another language.
