“Micro Warm Hill” Soars High – Becomes Japan Airlines’ Limited-Edition New Year Gift

Taiwan’s renowned souvenir, “pineapple cake,” has taken to the skies, becoming a limited-time New Year gift from Japan Airlines to passengers worldwide, starting today.

World-famous pineapple cake is a must-buy Taiwanese delicacy for global travelers visiting Taiwan and a popular gift choice during holidays among locals. To welcome the upcoming New Year, Japan Airlines (JAL) has specially partnered with Nantou’s renowned pineapple cake brand “Micro Warm Hill,” which will soon open a branch in Tokyo, to bring the pineapple cake—symbolizing prosperity—with it into the cabin as a New Year gift for every passenger, wishing everyone good fortune and prosperity in the new year.

To cater to Japanese tastes, Micro Warm Hill has slightly adjusted the ingredient proportions of the pineapple cake, creating a “Japan-style pineapple cake” that is slightly different from the original Taiwanese flavor. The Japanese version of the pineapple cake is available on Japan Airlines’ four international routes—from Taipei (Songshan) to Haneda, Taoyuan to Narita, Chubu, and Kansai—starting today until January 10, 2015.
