The largest in southern Taoyuan — Longtan Night Market opens with up to 500 stalls

The Longtan area of Taoyuan finally has its own night market for tourists. The Longtan Tourist Night Market officially opened on September 2, covering an area of 6,000 pyeong (approximately 19,800 square meters) with as many as 500 stalls. It can be described as the largest tourist night market in southern Taoyuan. Moreover, not only locals from Longtan but also visitors from nearby Pingzhen and Guanxi areas are welcome to come. In addition, the night market has planned 300 parking spaces for cars and 200 for motorcycles.

Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan said that the Longtan Night Market was originally located under the National Freeway No. 3 overpass and had been very popular among the people of Longtan for many years, even serving as a central part of their lives. However, due to the increasingly strict management of underpass spaces by the Directorate General of Highways under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the night market could no longer continue operating there. As a result, the Taoyuan City Government adopted a public-private partnership model to rebuild the Longtan Tourist Night Market, bringing it back into the lives of local residents.

In addition to the Longtan Tourist Night Market, the Bade Xingren Garden Night Market and the Guishan Cultural Garden Night Market are also operated under the guidance of the city government, meeting all standards in terms of transportation, environmental protection, hygiene, and more, making them legally run night markets.
