China Airlines and Cloud Gate Dance Theatre collaborate across industries, winning the International Grand Prize at the Rose Parade in the U.S.

The 126th Rose Parade in the U.S., held on New Year's Day 2015 in Pasadena, Los Angeles, saw China Airlines once again awarded the 24th International Grand Prize. With the theme “Inspiring Grace of Cloud Gate – Cloud Gate Dancers,” the float design featured a profusion of vibrant flowers paired with the graceful movements of dancers, showcasing the beauty of Taiwan on the international stage.

The theme of the 126th Rose Parade was “Inspiring Stories.” China Airlines collaborated across industries with Cloud Gate Dance Theatre to echo this year’s parade theme, highlighting the Taiwanese spirit embodied by Cloud Gate’s journey from youthful dreams to its current achievements. A medium-sized float measuring 55 feet in length, 18 feet in width, and 35 feet in height was created. The dancers on the float, dressed in silver-white costumes adorned with golden threads, danced with fluid grace, surrounded by lilies and lotuses, with colorful butterflies fluttering at the front, seamlessly blending classical culture with the elegant flair of contemporary art.

The float was decorated with a variety of bright flowers and plants including orchids, irises, roses, chrysanthemums, and strawflowers. The four dancers on the float platform also performed with dynamic energy and grace, engaging热情ly with the crowd on the float, showcasing the warm and friendly spirit of Taiwan.

China Airlines stated that since joining the Rose Parade in 1987, it has once again partnered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation this year. Aligning with the event’s theme each year, the airline uses “technology” to keep the flowers fresh and adheres to the “environmental protection” principle of caring for the Earth by avoiding artificial or plastic materials in the float decoration. It presents the humanistic and artistic charm on the international stage, promoting people-to-people diplomacy, allowing more people to feel, hear, see, and ultimately fall in love with Taiwan.
