As Taiwan’s tourism industry flourishes and hotel competition intensifies, many properties have enhanced their room offerings with luxury or themed experiences. Cartoon characters, known for their strong appeal and loyal followings, have led numerous hotels to create themed rooms based on comics or illustrated stories to draw in guests. ETtoday EBC has compiled a list of eight cartoon-themed rooms across Taiwan, each filled with adorable characters that bring out the child in everyone. See which one is your favorite!

1. Château de Chine Prince Hotel – The Adventures of Tintin, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Detective Conan Themed Rooms

Located within Leofoo Resort, Château de Chine Prince Hotel primarily caters to families, hence its themed rooms featuring The Adventures of Tintin, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Detective Conan. The newly completed Tintin-themed room offers two options: “Happy Voyage” and “Treasure Vault.” From the entrance, a Viking dock welcomes guests as if setting sail, while the hallway is adorned with illustrations from Tintin’s maritime adventures. Inside the room, Tintin, Snowy, and Captain Haddock greet guests with cheerful smiles.

2. Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung – Hello Kitty Pink Dream Themed Room

The globally adored pink icon Hello Kitty has countless fans, and Howard Plaza Hotel Kaohsiung is home to Taiwan’s only Hello Kitty themed room. The room is drenched in pink—from the living room to the dining area and bedroom, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into a pink wonderland. It even comes with Hello Kitty speakers, a tea set, wall art, and more. Starting January 2015, guests can also enjoy a “Hello Kitty Room Service” breakfast, where everything from utensils and toaster to juice cups and even seasoning jars are Hello Kitty-themed—guaranteed to delight any fan.

3. East Sun Mountain Resort – YOYO Themed Room

Unlike other hotels that collaborate with external brands, East Sun Mountain Resort created its own YOYOMAN and YAMY themed rooms. In the YOYO-themed floor, the hallway is entirely designed around the lovable character, sure to catch the eye of young children. The YOYOMAN room features a blue color scheme, while YAMY's room is pink. Both rooms showcase YOYO characters not just in the bedroom but also in the bathroom and even the glass decor, with specially designed cute-shaped wardrobes adding to the charm.

4. Naluwan Grand Hotel – P714 Planet Themed Room

Taiwan’s five-star Naluwan Grand Hotel in Taitung partnered with local creative brand P714 Planet. The standout feature of the P714 Planet themed room is the walls covered in adorable character stickers from the brand, transforming the space into a hand-drawn, whimsical world from the moment you enter the hallway. Yet, the room still preserves traditional elements such as indigenous patterns, making for a uniquely charming experience.

5. Hualien Howard Plaza Hotel – Jimmy Liao Themed Room

Jimmy Liao’s picture books are cherished childhood memories for many. At Hualien Howard Plaza Hotel, the collaboration with Jimmy Liao goes beyond placing his characters in the rooms—the hotel’s entrance, lobby, poolside, themed rooms, and even parking area feature his iconic figures. The hotel parking lot boasts the largest domestic installation mural by Jimmy Liao, titled “Embracing the Journey of Life,” showcasing classic characters from his past decade of work including those from “Turn Left, Turn Right,” “The Lucky Man,” and “Underground.” Additionally, the seventh floor houses 29 Jimmy Liao themed rooms, transforming the entire floor into an imaginative world where story elements blend into each suite’s unique style and color scheme.

6. Unity Resort – OPEN Xiaojiang Themed Room

The main character OPEN Xiaojiang from the Uni-President Enterprises Corporation is a favorite among collectors. At Unity Resort, the “OPEN Xiaojiang Vacation Villas” come in four major themes: Japanese style, European manor, Mediterranean, and Wild West cowboy. Each villa is designed reflecting the characteristics of the OPEN family, featuring garden landscapes perfect for tea chats, and themed interiors in the living rooms. There are also three OPEN family themed suites, including those for OPEN Xiaojiang, LOCK Xiaojiang, and Xiao Tao. As the only global hotel featuring these characters from the Uni-President group, Unity Resort’s OPEN Xiaojiang themed rooms are truly one of a kind.
