A Café with a View: efish by the Kamo River in Kyoto – A Perfect Spot for Cherry Blossoms in Spring

This was my first time visiting a café so close to the Kamo River. Just gazing out at the river could keep me daydreaming all afternoon. Efish is located right by Gojo Bridge. Take a bus to Kawaramachi-Gojo, and it’s not far from there. In summer, you can even see kids playing in the river~

Efish is situated along Kodaiji-Monzen-dori (Wooden House Lane). I passed by here last year during cherry blossom season, and the cherry blossoms along this street in spring are absolutely stunning.

Arriving right when they opened allowed me to choose my favorite seat freely.

The menu is available both as a printed booklet and written on the blackboard, though it's all in English. Efish seems to only offer à la carte items, with no set meals. As a result, the total can get a bit pricey.

It’s rare to find a café in Kyoto that offers free Wi-Fi (so touching!)

I ordered the daily cake and iced tea.

The chocolate cake wasn’t very moist and felt rather dry — a bit of a letdown. The iced tea, however, used crushed ice instead of cubes and tasted pretty good. Though the food was just average, being able to enjoy the beautiful view of the Kamo River up close made it worthwhile.
