Amsterdam Crane Transformed into Luxury Hotel – Dare to Bathe at Heights?

It’s common to stay on the 10th floor of a five-star hotel, but spending a night in a 50-meter-high “crane” is no easy feat. According to the UKDaily Mail, a dilapidated crane in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, has been successfully transformed into an ultra-luxurious hotel named Hotel Faralda.

This 250-tonne crane hotel took three years to build and is located near the city’s famous cultural center (NDSM) and the IJ Bay. You might think the hotel has a “construction site vibe,” but no — it boasts a very stylish, upscale urban aesthetic.

In fact, before it was completed, hardly anyone believed in this project. “Technically, it was deemed impossible, but after years of effort, it succeeded. In terms of uniqueness, height, and scale, it’s hard to surpass,” said spokesperson Rudy. The “rotating suite,” “panoramic infinity pool,” a spa, and a media room, all co-created by world-renowned designers, make it almost unrecognizable as a former aging structure.

Besidesa luxurious restaurant and luxury suites, it also features conference facilities and has become a popular wedding venue in the Netherlands. The suites are the most expensive in the country, with around 30 million NOK invested in each room, and a one-night stay costs about 16,000 NTD.

This architectural marvel was completed with the collaboration of hundreds of companies and manufacturers. Though it still sways slightly in strong winds, architects say they are working on installing a golden bearing to improve stability. Additionally, a new foundation will be built to counter the instability of the old dock.
