On my first trip to Kinmen, the most memorable food experience wasn’t one of the island’s typical specialties. When a local expert suggested taking us out for hot pot, I was a bit puzzled—how could hot pot be famous in Kinmen? But this place, 【Liuhé Premium Seafood Hot Pot Specialty】, really impressed us with its top-notch offerings. The secret to its deliciousness is simple: high-quality, ultra-fresh ingredients guarantee amazing taste.

The broth is simmered only with pork bones and fruits, resulting in an exceptionally sweet and rich flavor. The meats and many premium seafood items are sourced directly from Taiwan’s high-end suppliers through the owner’s personal connections, ensuring freshness upon arrival in Kinmen. There’s even Hokkaido scallops and Vietnamese king prawns, with seasonal specials offered throughout the year.
Thanks to the use of such premium ingredients, along with fresh local Kinmen produce and seafood, even friends from Xiamen across the strait come here specifically—it’s truly something special.

To be honest, my own preference for selecting high-quality ingredients aligns perfectly with the philosophy here. Truly, you get what you pay for—it’s worth spending a bit more for genuinely delicious, fresh, and natural ingredients rather than saving money on processed alternatives.

In the end, our meal at 【Liuhé Premium Seafood Hot Pot Specialty】 left everyone extremely satisfied, making it one of the most memorable and impressive meals during my quick trip to Kinmen. Especially when it’s cold, it’s even more missed. That night, even though we were so full we could barely move, we still couldn’t let go of the last bit of the broth!(Voice of the Kinmen expert: Just how hungry were these people... -_-”)

【Liuhé Premium Seafood Hot Pot Specialty】 is located on Kinmen’s famous Mofan Street. It was my first visit here. I heard that during the day it’s bustling with life and home to many specialty shops, all housed in historic old buildings that have a lot of charm. At night, however, it takes on a fresher, quieter vibe, which I felt was a more authentic, down-to-earth side of Kinmen.

Even at night, many shops on Mofan Street remain open, making it a great place for travelers to stroll around.

The old buildings on Mofan Street all have a lot of character and obvious historical significance.

【Liuhé Premium Seafood Hot Pot Specialty】 is made up of two storefronts combined into a two-story building with high ceilings inside. The overall style is my favorite kind of red-brick architecture. Though the exterior looks simple and understated, the owner has very high standards when it comes to ingredient quality.

There’s also a wind-lion god statue at the entrance, a unique symbol of Kinmen.

Besides hot pot, they also offer barbecue. Great ingredients are delicious no matter how you cook them—the key is to enjoy their natural flavors.

The interior follows a fashionable Japanese Zen aesthetic: simple, elegant, clean, and bright. To be honest, this design style is more reminiscent of trendy restaurants in Taipei or Taichung—it’s hard to imagine it in Kinmen. I’m really not very familiar with Kinmen; it turns out this place is full of hidden gems and experts. This trip allowed me to meet many veterans and gain a lot of new insights.

The broth is made with pork bones and fruits, incredibly sweet, and the final mixed rice porridge cooked in it was simply phenomenal—its sweetness deeply touched both heart and mind.

In addition to à la carte options, there are also several types of set menus for two people, with different ingredients depending on the price.

Our table of four chose two premium land-and-sea set menus for two at NT$1,390 each. Each set allows you to choose four types of meat, but because we were familiar with the expert and the owner, we got an extra type of meat as a bonus—so in total, we enjoyed five different types of very high-quality meat.

Wasn’t this table just spectacular? Aside from premium meats, the seafood included carefully selected large prawns, Kinmen clams, oysters, Hokkaido scallops, and grouper. They weren’t just impressive on the table—they tasted amazingly fresh and flavorful, with no weak links.

We have to talk about the prawns—they were truly huge, and just seeing them all laid out was incredibly impressive.

We spent a long time just photographing the prawns alone. The prawns themselves were super fresh and could be either boiled or salt-grilled.

Sir Big Bites, you’re really going at it—you’ve made the prawns proud... XD.

And that’s not a regular rice bowl—that’s a rice tub, and the prawns were practically spilling out of it.

The taste? Naturally sweet, tender, Q-textured, and just absolutely delicious.

The meat at Liuhe comes from top-tier domestic meat suppliers, graded the same as a certain high-end steakhouse in Taiwan. Apparently, it’s usually hard for restaurants to get their hands on it—apparently, it’s only available to the boss’s friends. Having tasted some premium-grade meats before, I wholeheartedly believe you get what you pay for when it comes to delicious, top-quality meat. What’s particularly special is getting to enjoy it in Kinmen—the level of deliciousness made it easy to understand why Liuhe attracts so many gourmet diners from mainland China. (After all, Xiamen is actually closer to Kinmen than Taipei is... XD)

Boss Ding even served us personally and explained some of Liuhe’s hot pot philosophy. Originally a designer, Boss Ding settled in Kinmen for love—his wife is from Kinmen—and wanted to bring his former passion and dedication for good food to the island. Boss Ding said that bringing quality ingredients to Kinmen was no easy feat and took a lot of effort, but they’ve gradually stabilized step by step.

The locally sourced clams in Kinmen are incredibly tender, sweet, and delicious. Apparently, they’re very expensive in Taiwan, so in Kinmen, you definitely have to take the chance to eat your fill.

When this dish was served, the table erupted in gasps and camera clicks. Forget about how impressively sized the oysters and scallops were—even seeing a grouper was downright luxurious.

The large scallops were absolutely delightful—crisp, tender, and sweet. Just a quick blanch and they were incredibly flavorful.

Finally, when everyone was already in a fully stuffed, dazed state, Boss Ding asked the staff to use the remaining broth to make ozōni (Japanese rice porridge). Hearing “ozōni,” my spirits perked right up—making ozōni with such rich, flavorful broth was bound to be amazing.

This ozōni was simply unbelievably sweet—not overly sugary, but naturally rich and savory. The essence of the entire pot of broth went straight into our stomachs in the end, leaving both our hearts and bellies 100% satisfied. Even me, the carb-loving glutton, couldn’t help but wolf down several more bowls despite feeling like my stomach might burst—I was nearly too full to stand.

Finally, everyone moved downstairs to the bar area for dessert. Many guests like to have a drink here, and sitting around chatting really has a great atmosphere.

The ice cream with added soy flour had a subtle, natural bean aroma—it was very refreshing and comforting.

● 《ETtoday East News Cloud》 reminds you: Don’t drink and drive, and don’t drive after drinking.

This meal let us get to know Boss Ding and his wonderful wife—a lovely, warm, and passionate couple who are also dedicated to good food. I really like friends like them, and next time I come to Kinmen, I’ll definitely have to visit again.

In addition to the previously mentioned set menu for two, there are other menus available for your reference.

After the meal, we slowly strolled back to the hotel, burning off some of the calories from the explosive dinner along the way.

Passing by the Kinmen General’s Office, it felt like Bao Zheng and his guards might walk out any moment.

Then, the local expert strongly recommended this papaya milk, saying it’s really delicious—so I bought another cup to enjoy back at the hotel. It was genuinely very tasty, and it was only 40 NT$ for a cup...

The papaya milk shop is located right next to the Golden Emperor Hotel. Don’t let the old-fashioned storefront fool you—it’s always packed with people.
