No more queuing up!“The Taj Mahal” now offers online pre-booking of tickets starting today

Winter is the peak tourist season in India, and the globally renowned World Heritage Site “Taj Mahal” alone attracts 7 to 8 million visitors each year who come to admire its splendor, often resulting in long lines at the ticket counters. The Indian government has now announced that, starting today, visitors can pre-purchase tickets for the Taj Mahal and Humayun’s Tomb online, saving travelers the hassle of waiting in line.
Both the “Taj Mahal” and the “Humayun’s Tomb,” also listed as World Heritage Sites, are among India’s most famous mausoleums. Among them, Humayun’s Tomb is India’s first garden tomb, and even the Taj Mahal was modeled after it. With its blend of Islamic and Hindu architectural styles and the beautiful surrounding scenery, its fame is no less than that of the Taj Mahal.

To spare travelers the time wasted in long queues for tickets, India has now established an electronic ticketing system and, starting today, allows online pre-booking of entry tickets for both mausoleums. The Taj Mahal ticket is priced at 750 rupees, while Humayun’s Tomb is 250 rupees. If the trial proves successful, the system will be extended to other historical sites in the future.
