Both sides of Kaohsiung’s Xingfu River are entering their peak flowering season. In addition to the vibrant blooms of creeping lantana and bougainvillea, the eye-catching firecracker vines have begun to appear, radiating the youthful vibrancy unique to early spring. The city government invites visitors to come enjoy the flowers, take a stroll, or ride a bicycle along Xingfu River. Benches are available on both banks for short breaks, allowing you to slow down anytime, soothe your busy mind, and leisurely soak in the joyful blossoms heralding good fortune along Xingfu River.

The Xingfu River shoreline features a distinctive landscape designed with perennial flowering shrubs. Starting from Minzu Road, the riverbanks are lush with creeping lantana; along Fuxing 1st Road, you’ll find numerous vines climbing the railings – these are the most festive and lively “firecracker vines” of the Lunar New Year. Their golden, fiery flashes dazzle the eyes, while their vivid orange hues make the Xingfu River appear as magnificent as a phoenix spreading its wings. The spectacular sight of “thousands of blooms bursting forth” adds even more cheer and blessings to the Lunar New Year celebrations. Past Zili 1st Road, the passionate and exuberant bougainvillea bursts into a riot of colors – pink, purple-red, bright yellow, light pink, ivory white, and other vivid bracts bloom freely, adorning the Xingfu River with its most radiant and enchanting beauty.
