No need to travel far to see cherry blossoms — check out Taipei’s “21 Cherry Blossom Trail Quick Guide”

The cherry blossoms in popular Taiwanese spots like Wuling and Aowanda are in full bloom, but you don’t have to go far — you can enjoy them right in the city. The Taipei City Department of Civil Engineering has recommended21 cherry blossom trailsnear the city. With this year’s cherry blossom season arriving earlier than usual, take some time off to stroll through mountain trails and admire the stunning display of blooming cherry blossoms.

As cherry blossom season kicks off across Taiwan, the Taipei City Department of Civil Engineering recently announced 21 cherry blossom trails across five districts, among which Beitou District — with the highest density of cherry blossom forests — is already a well-known and popular spot for many.

Xia Xiantong, head of the Roads and Trails Section at the department, recommends starting your journey at Beitou’s “Qingshangong Trail,” which connects several popular cherry blossom spots including Qingshangong Temple, or visiting the “Fengwei Trail,” which runs through a cherry blossom forest and allows you to fully experience the overwhelming beauty of the blooms. The several-kilometer-long “Zhongzheng Mountain Hiking Trail,” a cherry blossom hiking path, added a cherry blossom-themed entrance last year at its trailhead, complementing the surrounding cherry trees and becoming a big hit with visitors.

The Bishan Rock Trail in Neihu is covered with mountain cherry, double-petal cherry, and Yoshino cherry blossoms, where crimson blooms contrast beautifully with the purple Bai Shi Lake Suspension Bridge — not only great for cherry blossom viewing, but also for enjoying the bridge. Just a 15-minute walk from Dahu Park, the “Dagouxi Riverside Trail” features vibrant mountain cherry blossoms as well as a specially designed floral field, adding extra charm to your cherry blossom adventure.
