Chiayi Zhushan Park Stays Open Over Lunar New Year & Launches Free Shuttle on New Year’s Day

The “Fairy Flower Trail,” resembling an ecological classroom, and the thrilling “Sky Corridor,” offering a breathtaking view from high above, at Zhushan Park in Chiayi County have become popular new tourist spots in Taiwan since last year (2014). They attract many visitors on holidays, but the large crowds have led to issues such as pedestrian-vehicle congestion and insufficient parking. To address this, Zhushan Township Office will provide free shuttle buses during the Lunar New Year holiday to ease the flow of people.

Zhushan Waterfront Park is located next to the Zhushan Bridge on Provincial Highway 3, and is the first waterfront park along the Puzi River. With a 400-meter barrier-free “Fairy Flower Trail” and an 185-meter-long “Sky Corridor” about five stories above the ground, visitors can enjoy the fragrance of flowers and birdsong while experiencing the thrill of being high above the ground. It has recently become a hot tourist destination in Chiayi.

To accommodate the influx of tourists during the Lunar New Year,the township office will operate free shuttle buses from February 19 to 23 (the first to fifth days of the Lunar New Year). Buses will start running at 8:00 AM, with one bus expected every ten minutes. Visitors who drive are advised to park for free at the Luman Hakka Cultural Hall (Tobacco Museum) and then take the shuttle bus to Zhushan Waterfront Park, avoiding traffic congestion and parking issues, and ensuring a fun and carefree experience.
