Towering bald cypress trees line a circular lake, alongside newly built cabins in macaron-like pastel hues. Located in Nanzhuang, Miaoli, the “Yunshui Vacation Forest” is currently in its trial operation phase, with about 60% of the park completed. The picturesque lake and mountain scenery has been dubbed a “mini version of Yunshan Water,” offering such serene and elegant views that you can feel as if you’re in Europe without even leaving the country.

The “Yunshui Vacation Forest” is not far from Nanzhuang Old Street and is built on the former site of Dongjiang Hot Springs. It is a comprehensive resort combining hot spring bathing, accommodation, and dining, featuring restaurants, afternoon tea, hot spring rooms, foot soaking pavilions, and outdoor public pools. The newly completed vacation cabins in July were painted in macaron colors, creating a distinctly European vibe when viewed in a row. Next to them is a large macaron-themed installation art piece, attracting many young women to take photos and check in.

Stroll along the path around the bald cypress lake, where the mirror-like surface perfectly reflects the trees. The trees are arranged in an artful, scattered pattern, adding a poetic touch. Right now, everything is an endless shade of green, but when the leaves turn red in late autumn, you’ll get to enjoy a completely different view. The lake isn’t large—you can walk around it in about 10 minutes—and you can also climb to a higher vantage point to take in the full “mini version of Yunshan Water” panorama.

According to the operators, due to the expansive area, future construction will include a campsite, art gallery, chapel, market, boutique hotel, and more—something to look forward to.
