I’ve been busy lately and sometimes eat quite late, so I occasionally miss regular meal times. When I go out to find food, I’m often not sure what to eat. A few days ago, while riding my scooter around Xindian, I spotted ‘Liu Ji Quick Stir-Fry’ under the arcade of a salon right across from Ken Shin Hospital—next to McDonald’s—and it had just opened, so I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, the simple stir-fried dishes were all really delicious, and there were quite a few customers getting takeout for late-night meals too!
(Xindian) Liu Ji Quick Stir-Fry
Address: No. 327, Zhongzheng Rd., Xindian District, New Taipei City
Hours: 8:00 PM – 3:00 AM

Even though the weather was as cold as 12°C, there were still quite a few diners, and it seemed the later it got, the busier the place became. They’re open daily from 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM, so no more worries about where to get late-night snacks!

The prices aren’t high—about the same as other stir-fry joints—but the menu is relatively simple, without items like tofu, dried tofu, or scrambled eggs. It’s mainly basic ingredients, but the staff works pretty fast.

Their fried rice and fried noodles are both really good. Although there aren’t many shredded meats, they give you plenty of rice or noodles. The fried noodles are slightly sweet, but adding spice makes them even better. The fried rice is the shop’s specialty—it’s fragrant, fluffy, tasty, and not too greasy, which is why many takeout customers buy four or five portions at a time to take home.

The beef with greens dish featured spinach that day. The taste was okay but a bit too sweet for my liking. The beef wasn’t tough, and the greens stayed crisp and fresh. There wasn’t much shrimp paste, but it was a very rice-friendly dish.

Unlike typical pan-fried pig liver, the chef added bok choy to the stir-fry, which made it less greasy while preserving the freshness of the liver. The smooth and tender texture was quite enjoyable.

The stir-fried cod maw is probably the shop’s signature dish. It’s made with scallions, garlic, chili, and shrimp paste, stir-fried over high heat. It has a slight crunch, almost like eating crispy sausage, but I personally think it’s a great dish to enjoy with drinks!

For soup, I ordered the fresh oyster soup. The flavor is light because the shop cooks the broth and ingredients separately. The sour cabbage and ginger-infused soup base is poured over blanched fresh oysters, then topped with scallions before serving. The taste pairs well with their stir-fried rice and noodles, the price isn’t high, and it’s a simple but tasty soup~
