A twin room for one night plus scooter rental for under 1,000 RMB? FUNDI HOTEL in Tainan, a no-frills industrial-style inn created by local youth, highlights the warmth and friendliness of Tainan. The room rates are kept as low as possible, with the cheapest twin room going for just 800 RMB on weekdays. Add 199 RMB and you get a scooter too — so a twin room with scooter for two people costs only 999 RMB per night. Incredible value for money!

FUNDI HOTEL is close to Tainan Railway Station and the bus terminal — just a 5–10 minute walk, making it highly accessible. The exterior of the hotel has a sleek design with a wooden door in warm tones. This used to be the Shinan Hotel, which closed down and was taken over by the two owners of FUNDI HOTEL. They renovated the entire building and renamed it, giving birth to today’s FUNDI.

The name “FUNDI” is derived from one character from each of the two owners’ names. Both are local Tainan youth who took over the old inn and infused it with their creativity, giving new life to the building and adding a modern industrial-style structure to the old alleyways. The rooms feature a minimalist and comfortable style — nothing extravagant, but cozy enough to rest well and feel right at home.

FUNDI currently has 7 rooms in total, with 3 room types all being twin rooms. Weekday rates range from 800 to 1,200 RMB, while weekend rates are 1,200 to 1,800 RMB. Holiday season prices vary and are calculated separately, with prices differing by room type. Each room comes with its own private bathroom.

Most out-of-town travelers visiting Tainan rent scooters, so the owners have specially designed a weekday-only room + scooter package. Priced between 999 and 1,399 RMB for one night (twin occupancy), that’s as low as under 500 RMB per person for a two-day-one-night trip to Tainan including a scooter — almost cheaper than a backpacker hostel when you do the math.
