No need to travel far for cherry blossom viewing—Beitou has a 200-meter "night cherry blossom tunnel closest to the city center"

The Beitou District of Taipei City, long known as a prime spot for cherry blossom viewing, now offers night blossom experiences too. The Taipei City Department of Urban Development and the Datan Neighborhood in Beitou have collaborated to illuminate the popular local attraction “Cherry Blossom Tunnel” with 100 lights. From now until the end of February, visitors can stroll through the tunnel at night and immerse themselves in a dreamy, colorful, romantic atmosphere.

Located along Fuxing 3rd Road in Datan, traces of mountain cherry blossoms and somei yoshino can be seen throughout. The section with the densest cherry trees is along both sides of the road from White House Villa to the entrance of Lane 230, where over 300 cherry blossom trees line the road. When flowering season arrives, it forms a 200-meter-long “pink tunnel” that draws large crowds every year.

This year, to allow the public to experience a different kind of cherry blossom beauty, Datan Neighborhood Chief Chin Jung-hui and the Taipei City Department of Urban Development have installed 100 night lights along both sides of the Cherry Blossom Tunnel. As night falls, 16 different special lighting effects are projected to create a magical ambiance entirely different from the daytime, making Fuxing 3rd Road the “night cherry blossom viewing spot closest to the city center”!

Chin Jung-hui noted that the cherry blossoms in the tunnel are currently about 50% in bloom, and are expected to be in full bloom before Lunar New Year. Wu’s Ancestral Hall, another popular cherry blossom viewing spot, is already 70–80% in bloom. The night illumination period runs from now until February 28, daily from 6 PM to 9 PM. It is recommended that visitors take the Xiaoliu (No. 6) bus up the mountain. Those driving can park near An Guo Temple and then walk up Fuxing 3rd Road to leisurely enjoy the beautiful cherry blossom tunnel.
