Last updated 2026-09-25 — I had eaten at Yong Ji many years ago and have always had a good impression of their radish cake. Recently, the shop relocated, and a kind fellow diner let us know, which made us eager to revisit and relive the experience. But when we made a special trip there, we found they were closed for a day—a bit disappointing. Undeterred, a few days later, while we happened to be in the area, we dropped by for a meal.

I had eaten at Yong Ji many years ago and have always had a good impression of their radish cake. Recently, the shop relocated, and a kind fellow diner let us know, which made us eager to revisit and relive the experience. But when we made a special trip there, we found they were closed for a day— a bit disappointing. Undeterred, a few days later, while we happened to be in the area, we dropped by for a meal.

Yong Ji has been operating in Fengshan for several years and has gained some local fame. After appearing on a food TV show, the shop became even more well-known. Although the new location isn’t in the bustling Wenshan District, it continues to welcome both regulars and newcomers.

The ordering system is self-service: fill out a form at the counter, place your order, and pay after your meal. In addition to familiar dishes like stinky tofu and radish cake, those craving a hotpot can try the original or spicy stinky tofu hotpot for around NT$100.

Near the entrance are utensils and sauces for you to mix and match as you like.

Steamed stinky tofu – NT$70
Similar steamed stinky tofu has appeared in shops like Jianghao Ji and Fu Ji over the years, with slight variations in flavor. At Yong Ji, the sauce tends to be saltier, and it’s better not to drink all the broth.

Though the tofu doesn’t have many holes, it still absorbs the broth nicely without bursting. The soy-based broth is slightly too salty.

Deep-fried trio – NT$75
Want to try a bit of everything? The deep-fried trio is a great choice, offering a variety of tofu flavors in one go. The set includes two pieces of Hong Kong-style stinky tofu, two fried yuanbao (gold ingot fritters), and one sliced tofu roll. The side dish is Taiwanese pickles—nothing mind-blowing, but still tasty.

Made with mashed tofu and corn wrapped in bean curd skin and deep-fried, this simple snack has a similar charm to chicken rolls.

The yuanbao is probably too big to fit in one bite—it contains two small shrimp.

The unbeatable radish cake – NT$45
Ever since the unbeatable radish cake became famous, the shop even adopted it as their name to leave a lasting impression. The long-awaited radish cake is truly mouthwatering—I was so disappointed last time when I came but they were closed. This time, I finally got to try it.

The exterior is pan-fried to a crispy, aromatic finish. With a gentle press of chopsticks, the radish splits open, and with minimal chewing, the sweet, pure flavor of the radish naturally fills your mouth.

The boss is really generous—each customer gets a free bowl of hot and sour soup. And don’t worry, the complimentary soup is no less flavorful, hitting all the right notes.

Though it’s just a small bowl, the ingredients are generously portioned, making it quite a hearty serving.

The shop now offers a delivery service for the unbeatable radish cake, so fans can have it delivered and cook it at home.

The new shop isn’t in a busy commercial area, but business doesn’t seem to have suffered—the place remains popular. The radish cake is the signature dish, so you definitely have to try a plate. Overall, it’s an affordable spot with pretty tasty stinky tofu dishes. It’s a great place to revisit whenever the craving hits—but make sure you come to the right location.
