The Love River is a renowned tourist attraction in Kaohsiung and has always been a must-visit destination for experiencing the city’s harbor charm. Hsu Chuan-sheng, Director of Kaohsiung’s Department of Tourism, stated that to leave visitors with more beautiful impressions, they invited artistic mural painters to give a fresh look to the advertising walls along Hedong Road by the Love River (near Aolight). Centered around the “Gaobear Picture Book” theme, different walls tell different stories of Kaohsiung. On Valentine’s Day, the 14th, visitors who check in and like the site can be among the first 99 pairs to receive tickets for a ride on the Love River cruise.

The tourism bureau stated that the picture book content centers on the theme of “Tasting Kaohsiung’s River,” with four conceptual styles: “City of Shared Joy,” “City of Shared Exploration,” “City of Shared Resources,” and “City of Shared Resonance,” together weaving the story of Kaohsiung. “City of Shared Joy” uses the musical notes of the Love River to compose a beautiful melody, inviting the public to embrace and dance with the city, sharing these wonderful moments with those nearby. “City of Shared Exploration” takes inspiration from a city amusement park, encouraging visitors to fly, wander, and pause within a vibrant, dreamy Kaohsiung.
“City of Shared Resources” shares every bit of Kaohsiung’s beauty. “City of Shared Resonance” uses Kaohsiung’s warm sun, architectural aesthetics, cultural creativity, and rich human touch to generate boundless enthusiasm, transforming Kaohsiung into a city full of joy and laughter. Hsu Chuan-sheng pointed out that the Love River is an important landmark of Kaohsiung, receiving numerous domestic and international visitors each year. This time, refreshing the walls along the Love River area with the “Gaobear” concept not only adds beauty but also allows everyone to learn more about Kaohsiung’s spirit and stories through the picture book and the adorable Gaobear.

Coinciding with Valentine’s Day and the Lunar New Year, the tourism bureau has specially launched the “100 Lovers in Love River” photo contest – the “Love Kaohsiung for a Long Time” campaign. Starting at 10 AM, participants can take creative photos with any of the picture book walls, expressing love for Kaohsiung, their partner, or family members. By checking in, liking the post, and uploading it to the 2015 Gaobear in Love River fan page, the first 99 pairs will receive two tickets for the Love River cruise.
