Last updated 2026-09-24 — Colorful juice blends garnished with cookies and other treats make each drink look like a piece of art, becoming a major trend on Instagram this summer. Located in Ximending, a hub for young students, “Al revés 颠倒餐厅” features its most unique offering — the “Unicorn Slush.” Its blue-to-purple gradient isn’t achieved with artificial coloring but through a mix of red dragon fruit and blue curaçao. Topped with a wafer cone and colorful Skittles-like candies, the drink becomes even more dazzling.

“Al revés 颠倒餐厅” is located in the Ximending shopping district and was jointly opened in May this year by several men in their 20s. “During the preparation phase, our two managers were determined to create highly photogenic drinks — after all, these days people let their phones do the eating first,” joked Luo Chenyu, who handles marketing. The name “Al revés 颠倒餐厅” comes from the Spanish word “al revés,” meaning “upside down.” Constant innovation and surpassing customer expectations are core beliefs behind the restaurant’s concept.

The signature drink is the “Unicorn Slush,” inspired by the My Little Pony cartoon. The shop explains that the bottom layer is slush made from Taiwanese red-fleshed dragon fruit, the middle layer is blue curaçao slush, and the top is adorned with whipped cream, Skittles-like candies, dragon fruit balls, and finished with a wafer cone shaped like a unicorn horn. It has a sweet and tangy flavor reminiscent of love, making it perfect for summer.

Besides the Unicorn Slush, there’s also the California Golden Coast Slush. What makes this one unique is its horizontal layering instead of vertical — creating a beach and wave scene. The golden sand is made from Taiwanese mango, while the waves are blue curaçao slush, decorated with palm trees, beach balls, and beach towels. It’s visually cooling just to look at. In addition to visually striking slushes, they also offer matcha with foam and other drinks, with prices starting from NT$35.

For food, the restaurant also embraces its disruptive spirit in menu design, blending Chinese and Thai elements with Western-style pasta and risotto. Examples include mushroom and native chicken risotto with sesame oil, steak pasta, and Thai larb pork pasta. Prices range from NT$170 to NT$260, making them relatively affordable.
