The Wuling cherry blossom season has officially kicked off today. The hillsides blanketed with cherry blossoms have won high praise from many visitors for their stunning beauty. Currently in full bloom are varieties such as Pink Perfection, mountain cherries, and Showa cherries, which have bloomed to about 40% of their peak. It is estimated that next Tuesday, Lunar New Year’s Eve, will mark the height of the blooming period, lasting until early March—a perfect time for photos and cherry blossom viewing. However, a reminder: to avoid overcrowding,the Ministry of Transportation has implemented a daily visitor cap starting today, allowing only 6,000 people—of which 1,800 include those staying overnight or camping, who must register their vehicles in advance; the other 4,200 visitors must take the farm’s designated cherry blossom shuttle buses.

Looking out over the mountainside, a sea of pink unfolds as the cherry blossoms at Wuling Farm burst into full bloom, making it hard not to exclaim that spring has arrived. Especially enchanting is the several-hundred-meter-long cherry blossom tunnel, where the romance factor is off the charts. Many Japanese tourists have even dressed up in kimonos specially to take photos. With abundant sunshine, every angle offers breathtaking views.

With everyone eager to see the cherry blossoms, crowds of people and vehicles have been pouring in early in the morning. To maintain the quality of the cherry blossom viewing experience, Wuling Farm has announced that starting February 13, a daily visitor cap will be enforced, limiting entry to 6,000 people per day.Of these, 1,800 visitors—including those with lodging, camping, or hiking arrangements—may drive up the mountain themselves but will need a permit.The remaining 4,200 visitors must take designated shuttle buses from three locations: Taipei, Yilan, or Lishan.

The blooming cherry blossoms at Wuling Farm are predominantly Pink Perfection, along with vibrant red mountain cherries and delicate pink Showa cherries also in full display. However, currently only about 40% of the blossoms have opened. The farm estimates that the peak blooming period will begin on Lunar New Year’s Eve, February 18, and last until early March. With the overlap of the Spring Festival holiday, the sight of vast seas of flowers, people, and vehicles is sure to be quite a spectacle.
