2015 Taipei Lantern Festival’s “Crystal Lovers’ Bridge” Dazzles – Take a Look at the Traffic Control Zone First

The annual Taipei Lantern Festival is back again. The Taipei City Department of Transportation has announced that the “2015 Taipei Lantern Festival” will kick off on the 27th at the Taipei Expo’s Yuanshan Park. Due to the large crowds that gather during previous years' lantern displays, multiple traffic control measures will be implemented around the festival area this year to prevent congestion.
This year’s Taipei Lantern Festival kicks off with a dazzling sea of lights stretching along Section 2 to Section 3 of Zhongshan North Road. The light display this year is themed “Love, Embrace the Sea of Lights,” featuring a series of romantic light installations that will twinkle from now until March 15. The pedestrian overpass connecting Taipei Expo Yuanshan Park and Taipei Fine Arts Museum has also been transformed into the vibrant and sparkling “Crystal Lovers’ Bridge,” making it the biggest highlight of this year’s lantern festival.

In addition to encouraging the public to use public transportation, the Taipei City Department of Transportation has also announced the following traffic control measures:
１、During the lantern festival, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekdays, and from 5:00 PM to midnight on holidays and March 5 (Lantern Festival), vehicles (except buses) are prohibited from entering Jiuzhou Street and Lane 10, Jiuzhou Street.
２、On holidays and during the Lantern Festival from 5:00 PM to midnight, vehicle access will be restricted on an unnamed lane near the east side of Hai Ba Wang Restaurant on West Minzu East Road. To ease traffic flow, lane adjustments will also be in place between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM daily during the lantern festival period on West Minzu West Road (between Lane 31, Minzu West Road and Zhongshan North Road), changing the 4-lane westbound and 2-lane eastbound configuration to 3 lanes each way.
３、For parking controls, throughout the lantern festival period, roadside parking spaces on the south side of Kulun Street (between Chengde Road and Yumen Street) and the west side of Yumen Street (between Dunhuang Road and Kulun Street) will be cancelled all day. Additionally, from 5:00 PM to midnight every day, motorcycle parking on the sidewalks and arcades on the north side of Minzu East Road (between Shuangcheng Street and Zhongshan North Road) is prohibited, and the unloading parking spaces on the south side of Minzu East Road (opposite Hai Ba Wang Restaurant) will also be removed.
As for off-street parking lots, during the lantern festival period from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekdays and from 5:00 PM to midnight on holidays and the Lantern Festival, the original policy at the Children’s Amusement Center Parking Lot will restrict entry—vehicles will only be allowed to exit.
４、Regarding buses and YouBike services, to accommodate large crowds, the YouBike station at Taipei Fine Arts Museum will suspend service from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekdays and from 5:00 PM to midnight on holidays and the Lantern Festival. Also, the bus stop “Datong University (Fine Arts Park)” (heading west) will not have any bus stops during the same times.
