5 Spring Travel Themes in Taoyuan: Cherry Blossom Viewing & Sky Rope Bridge Challenge!

The Taoyuan City Government Tourism Bureau stated that starting February 14, the “Sky Rope Bridge” at Little Wulai has officially reopened, showcasing the beauty of a mysterious waterfall and lush mountain forests to all visitors; the Taoyuan Lantern Festival will also grandly open from March 4 to March 8. Additionally, the breathtaking cherry blossom scenery along Dongyue Mountain, Roma Road, and Beiheng Highway adds vibrant colors to the Spring Festival holiday. To welcome the Year of the Goat, the Taoyuan City Government has planned five major themes based on local characteristics — nature, harborfront, shopping, Hakka villages, and family-friendly experiences — allowing visitors to enjoy a diverse travel experience during their spring outings.

Surrounded by Mountains, Enjoy Nature
Beiheng Highway offers different kinds of beauty throughout the four seasons. At Kebinshan Guesthouse, you can see plum blossoms as pure as snow dotting the landscape. In the Little Wulai scenic area, you can breathe in rich negative ions while admiring the three great waterfalls: Little Wulai Waterfall, Mysterious Waterfall, and Dragon-Phoenix Waterfall. In addition to the skywalk perched 70 meters directly above the cascading falls, the newly opened Sky Rope Bridge, available from February 14, allows travelers to appreciate the Little Wulai Scenic Area from a unique perspective.

Traveling along Provincial Highway 7, the Beiheng Highway embraced by mountains fills the air with forest phytoncides. Towering ancient trees reaching into the clouds offer a breathtaking sense of nature’s grandeur. Every February, cherry blossoms lining the roadsides of Dongyue Mountain, Roma Road, and Shangbaling burst into romantic bloom. Moreover, within the Fuxing District tribal areas, the wisdom of hunters and the warmth of the Atayal people allow visitors to enjoy the pristine charm of nature during the Spring Festival holiday.

Azure Seas & Skyline: Stroll Along the Harborfront
Yong’an Fishing Port and Zhuwei Fishing Port offer freshly caught seafood that you can buy and eat on the spot. Additionally, you can ride a bike to attractions such as Baishajiao Lighthouse, Leisure Lotus Garden Farm, precious algal reefs, and stone weirs to burn off those New Year’s calories. Near Taoyuan Airport, you can also relax at scenic cafes, the Aerospace City Vision Museum, and the Revival Flight Kitchen tasting house, all while looking up to watch planes zooming past.

Shop ’til You Drop at Unique Commercial Districts
The two major station-front commercial districts in Taoyuan and Zhongli feature shopping malls, department stores, specialty districts, and traditional markets, making it convenient for people to shop for New Year’s goods. Here, you can also find products from well-known old shops and Taoyuan’s top ten souvenirs, making it easier to visit friends and family. In addition, Taoyuan has numerous tourist factories where visitors can enjoy the fun of sightseeing, industry, and shopping all in one.

Celebrate Wealth with Rich Hakka New Year Traditions
During the Lantern Festival, welcoming the God of Wealth and eating sweet treats on Tianguan Day bring strong festive vibes. Throughout the holiday season, you can experience the rich cultural heritage in distinctive Hakka villages. From March 4 to March 8, the Taoyuan Lantern Festival also kicks off in Longtan. This year’s festival features the “Dancing Waters and Lanterns: Joyful Goat,” creating a prosperous and lively Lantern Festival. Nearby attractions include Sankeng Old Street, Shimen Reservoir, Shimen Irrigation Canal, and the Hakka Cultural Museum, where visitors can enjoy traditional Hakka dishes like vegetable buns and beef noodle soup, as well as go cherry blossom viewing around the lake and cycling.
