Mountain cherry, yaezakura, and other cherry blossoms make consecutive appearances  Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the floral scenery along the North Cross-Island Highway

Along the North Cross-Island Highway in Taoyuan City, various types of cherry blossoms such as mountain cherry, yaezakura, and Showa cherry bloom every year during the cherry blossom season. This year, during the Lunar New Year period, many popular cherry blossom viewing spots are also in full bloom. The public can take advantage of the holiday break to plan a cherry blossom trip.

Starting around February 1 this year, mountain cherry blossoms along the North Cross-Island Highway gradually began to bloom, with their peak blooming period from February 8 to February 23. Other varieties such as yaezakura, Thousand Island cherry, and Showa cherry have also begun to bloom successively starting from February 14.

During this year’s Lunar New Year holiday (February 18 to 23), in addition to enjoying the final flourish of mountain cherry blossoms along the North Cross-Island Highway, the public can also plan their visits according to the blooming schedules of later-flowering varieties, heading to places such as Lalashan Nature Reserve, Zhongxing Road Cloud Cherry Rain, Shenmu Road Cloud Cherry Rain, Zhongbalin Cherry Blossom Avenue, and Lalashan Tourism Service Center, where they may all have the chance to admire the vibrant light pink blossoms.

Additionally, the Taoyuan City Government also stated that apart from cherry blossom viewing, the Skywalk in Xiaowulai Scenic Area in Fuxing District officially opened on February 14, allowing the public to be among the first to experience the thrill of this elevated walkway.
