The Kaohsiung Lantern Festival officially kicks off; preview of the floats inside revealed

The 2015 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival will commence on the 21st and run until March 15 along the Love River waterfront and in the City Light Corridor. Continuing with the theme of “Love & Happiness,” a series of lantern displays have been created, along with the introduction of the eye-catching technological attraction — the “Kaohsiung Eye” water theater — and a light projection show set against the backdrop of the century-old National Taiwan Bank Building. 《ETtoday Eastday News Cloud》 has exclusively unveiled some of the floats for readers to take an early look.

Breaking away from previous formats, this year’s Kaohsiung Lantern Festival features 16 large, uniquely themed lanterns under four themes: “Harbor Mambo,” “Play of Water and Light,” “Prayers for Peace,” and “Going with the Flow.” The Love River serves as the perfect stage for these displays, utilizing the extended effect of light reflections on the water surface to create a richly colorful visual feast.

Bringing the international O Show water screen projection to Taiwan, the festival introduces the specially designed “Kaohsiung Eye” for this event. It will stand in the middle section of the west bank of the Love River, 20 meters from the shore, and will incorporate elements such as flame effects, high-altitude spotlights, water dance nozzles, LED color-changing lights, special effects fireworks, water screen imagery, and water screen lasers. Combined with the Love River’s water fireworks and water dance performances, it will project images of Kaohsiung’s beautiful scenery onto water screens, delivering a never-before-seen spectacular show in Taiwan.
