No longer free！Kaohsiung buses launch new “Unlimited Rides with an EasyCard” promotion

Kaohsiung’s “ride buses for free with an EasyCard” promotion ran for over a year and ended at the end of February. To encourage more people to use the EasyCard when taking the bus, the Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau has launched a new “Two Unlimited Rides Per Day” plan starting now, so the more you ride, the more you save！

Chen Chin-fu, Director of the Kaohsiung Transportation Bureau, said that from March 1 until the end of the year, a 50% discount on bus fares will be offered for “transfers between MRT and buses.” Passengers using an EasyCard or student card to transfer from a bus to MRT (or vice versa) within two hours can enjoy a half-price bus fare, meaning the discount is 6 NT dollars and 5 NT dollars when using an EasyCard or student card.

In addition, the Transportation Bureau is also implementing a “Two Unlimited Rides Per Day” plan for bus rides with an EasyCard. That means if you take the bus on the same day using your EasyCard, you will only be charged for the first and second rides, and all subsequent rides will be free, allowing unlimited rides on urban buses. In other words, the more you ride, the more transportation costs you’ll save, with the hope of significantly increasing public transport usage.

Chen Chin-fu also said that to ensure commuters who start early or return late can ride the bus with peace of mind, the Transportation Bureau has started piloting the “Good Morning Bus” and “Peace of Mind Bus” programs this year on the first bus of each route and the last bus passing through train stations. These initiatives include strengthening punctuality controls, improving driver courtesy greetings, as well as ensuring interior bus lighting during nighttime travel and displaying “Peace of Mind Bus” and “Good Morning Bus” signs on the front LED displays to enhance passenger safety at night.
