After 12 years, Taipei Story House temporarily closes its doors — free entry to its European-style garden for photos

Having passed 12 years, the Taipei Story House — designated as a municipal heritage site of Taipei City — will temporarily close starting March 2. To give the public a chance to take photos before its closure, the Taipei Story House will offer free admission from now until March 8, allowing everyone to create spring memories.
The Taipei City Government Department of Cultural Affairs stated that in 2003, the Taipei Story House was founded with sponsorship from Shirley Yeh (Chen Kuo-tzu), becoming the first case in Taiwan where an individual personally adopted a public heritage site. In April this year, the contract between the Taipei City Government and Shirley Yeh’s heritage operation will expire, and the Taipei Story House will be returned to the Taipei City Government to seek a new operator.
Shirley Yeh mentioned that the initial intention was to use this lovely building to allow the public to connect with heritage sites and foster greater appreciation for them. Over the 12 years, it attracted over 3 million visitors, proving that modern Taiwanese people value and cherish heritage sites.

The Taipei Story House is expected to announce publicly on the internet in mid-March that it is seeking a new operating team, with the announcement period lasting two weeks. During the closure, the Department of Cultural Affairs will conduct an inventory of assets and a phased inspection of the heritage site. To allow the public a chance to take photos before its closure, the Taipei Story House will offer free access to its garden and the small playground at the back from now until March 8, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, giving everyone the opportunity to create wonderful memories.
