On Sunday evening, Sister Old K and I went out for a meal near MRT Neihu Station.

We happened to spot this pizza place, and it had been quite a while since we’d had pizza. But what caught Old K’s interest was that there were foreigners dining there too. If even foreigners want to eat here, the pizza must have something unique about it.

As soon as we walked in, we found it was fully booked — only outdoor seats were left. But it was only 11°C in the evening — is it okay to eat pizza outside? XD Luckily, Old K’s home isn’t far from here, so we decided to take it away. Takeaway even comes with a 10% discount.

The menu is written on the blackboard on the wall. They also offer business lunches from Tuesday to Friday.

Feeling a bit tired of looking at the wall, we saw there was also a menu on the table. We decided to get three pizzas to take home for Old K’s mom and dad. In the end, we chose Garden Vegetables, American Sausage, and Pesto Sea Perch.

They were pretty quick. Old K had just taken some photos inside the shop and then stepped out to snap a shot of the signboard when two pizzas were already done.

The last one, the Pesto Sea Perch, let Old K take a picture of it. First, they spread a layer of pesto on it — it really looked very green, XD.

Then came the mushrooms and sea perch.

And of course, the final touch was a generous sprinkle of cheese.

Next, it was time to bake it in the oven. They didn’t use firewood here — probably something like a high-powered gas oven. Previously, at Good Times Pizza in Minsheng Community, they used something similar, but the pizza still turned out really tasty. We quickly took it home before it got cold — once it cools down, it’s not as good.

Pizza is always more fun when you have a variety of flavors. Let’s dig in. The pizzas are all size 10-inch — a bit bigger than the small ones we usually get at Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut’s are more like American-style pizzas with super thick crusts that feel like eating bread, XD. Old K prefers the Italian-style thin-crust with a nice bite.

American Sausage Pizza (NT$260, 10% off for takeaway)
This kind of American sausage is also called salami — it’s a saltier type of sausage, and the flavor is pretty strong. But Old K didn’t find their salami overly salty. Paired with tomato sauce, cheese, black olives, and other toppings, the overall savory taste was something Old K really liked. It went well with the chewy crust. The slightly charred edges on the crust added even more texture. No wonder even foreigners come here to buy it.

When eating pizza, Old K loves adding these dried chili peppers — they add flavor without being too spicy.

When eating, remember to put your index finger in the middle of the pizza and fold it up — that way, the toppings won’t fall out.

Pesto Sea Perch (NT$250, 10% off for takeaway)
Old K can only say that anyone who loves pesto will probably enjoy this flavor. The pesto taste is really strong, paired with mushrooms and seasoned sea perch — the sea flavor blends with the mountain flavor, XD. Old K really likes this flavor.

Garden Vegetables (NT$280, 10% off for takeaway)
This one was for Old K’s mom and dad. It’s not Old K’s favorite, XD. But Old K’s mom and dad both said it was delicious.

Little Tips from Old K:
This pizza place was truly an unexpected find. There’s good wood-fired pizza in Neihu too. The pesto flavor really suits Old K’s taste. We’ll definitely try other flavors next time. But it was really cold that day, and the pizza got cold pretty fast. Cold pizza is still okay, but the outer crust gets harder to eat. So definitely eat it while it’s hot. Or pop it in the oven for a quick reheat. Friends who love Italian-style pizza like Old K should definitely give it a try.
