Seafood Galore!* Yilan’s Omakase Cuisine – Calligraphy-Crane Shrimp with Poetic Flair

Yilan’s omakase-style dining is famous for its abundant and diverse menu, making it a favorite among travelers visiting the area. Honestly, even for our own group gatherings, we love this kind of omakase cuisine because it’s affordable and generous – the cost-performance ratio is really great!! This was actually our Nth visit, and we keep coming back because we always think it’s fantastic.

It’s located next to Yilan Sports Park, just a 10-minute drive from the Yilan Interchange on the highway, and there’s also a private parking lot for Shan Du Space nearby.

Currently, Shan Du Space offers only two price options: $600 or $1000 per person, plus 10% service charge. We heard someone from Taipei say that for this kind of meal and price, it’s totally worth driving all the way from Taipei just to eat here!! Haha, not to mention you can also stroll around the nearby area after your meal, combining great food and scenery in one perfect little trip.

This acrostic poem is really well done – it even spells out the restaurant’s name.

You can tell the restaurant is trying hard to enrich this space, but sometimes moderation is key – don’t overdo the extravagance. Simple, comfortable, and fresh is actually more elegant, and it makes for a great place to entertain family, friends, or important guests.

The restaurant mainly features large round tables, with plenty of space between them, so it’s suitable for all kinds of gatherings.

Since it’s an omakase menu, you don’t need to order – just make a reservation and you can start eating once everyone arrives.

Super huge platter!! The first cold dish is so impressive in scale – it’s already a signature of Yilan’s omakase cuisine. It has to wow guests with an “wow” moment to pass!! XD

The staff will briefly explain the items in the cold platter. Of course, as expected, Yilan’s seafood is very famous, so the focus is on sashimi, with many rustic side snacks like black beans and pickled radish.

Seafood milk hotpot

With fresh spot prawns, shellfish, Shandong cabbage, taro, crab sticks, fresh shiitake mushrooms, tofu skin, and glass noodles – it’s truly non-stop eating, loved by both adults and kids. The seafood broth is so sweet and delicious, and it gets even better the longer it cooks.

On top, sugar-pulled golden threads form a bird’s nest-like shape, decorated with red organic rose petals for a stunning visual effect. Below, there’s a mix of ingredients like squid, lettuce, and fruit.

Of course, the dressing for the salad is also a key soul element – with a balanced sweet and sour taste that’s really appetizing.

These serving vessels are nice!! Even though there are no dish names here!! But they symbolize prosperity rising!! The zongzi also sounds like “getting something” – all very auspicious.

This one is pretty tasty too, with small scallops inside, and the purple sticky rice flavor is quite good.

Haha, the serving ware is getting more and more amazing!! Even a bull-pulled cart symbolizing a bountiful catch has appeared!!

We originally thought this was fried squid or something similar, but this dish turned out to be a total surprise.

It’s actually a seafood roll, but shaped with a batter coating to look like squid!! It really does look like it.

Only after biting into it do you realize it’s a seafood roll!! Eat it wrapped in romaine lettuce with a bit of sauce – refreshing, crispy, and delicious!!

Brush-Pen-Hanging Shrimp – served on a brush holder rack, absolutely brilliant!! The 3D presentation gives a delightful surprise.

Floral apple cider vinegar – great for cleansing the palate after several rich-flavored dishes.

The little pearls in the apple cider vinegar are somewhat like molecular gastronomy – they have a QQ (chewy) texture, and feel quite similar to salmon roe. It’s quite fun.

I forgot what kind of fish it was XD, but it was steamed, very fresh and delicious

Miso grilled meat, this dish is also full of flavor, so tasty!!

Wow, the post-meal fruit basket is amazing again!! There are so many kinds of fruits in it!! The container holding the fruits is even a boat, with several types of fruits that vary by season, and there are cherries too

Even shaved ice made an appearance!! The rich and creamy peanut ice is really the most refreshing treat in summer

The dishes at the small table are slightly different from those at the large table we had, but they’re mostly similar. Next, let’s enjoy them through pictures

This one is a bit different, it’s a way of eating Dongpo pork with bread. The serving dish is also very nice, adding a lot of fun to the meal

The amazing dishes at Shan Du Space are really great, creative and exciting, all adjusted according to seasonal ingredients. Although some people mentioned repetitive dishes, if you inform the restaurant in advance, they will make slight adjustments
