As summer draws to a close, the cool breezes of dawn and dusk gradually bring the scent of autumn. Every year around this time, Hsinchu begins to transform into a golden-yellow wonderland, with vast stretches of orange-hued scenery and the faint aroma of smoked persimmons lingering in the air — it's incredibly heartwarming. Recently, some of Hsinchu’s well-known persimmon-drying farms have also started sharing photos of their spectacular persimmon-drying displays, officially heralding the arrival of the annual persimmon-drying season.

Located in Hanhang Li, Hanhang Village, Hsinpu Township, Hsinchu County, Weiwijia Persimmon Cakes boasts over 200 persimmon trees across approximately three hectares of orchard on its own hillside. When autumn arrives and the persimmons ripen, the mountainside turns a brilliant red — a truly magnificent sight. The family’s traditional persimmon-drying techniques have been passed down through generations, using age-old methods that combine sun drying and wood-fired smoking to produce delicious autumn persimmon cakes. Here, you can not only capture vivid, heartwarming photos but also sample healthful chicken soup with dried persimmons, persimmon ice pops made with persimmon bits, and even take part in hands-on experiences such as persimmon dyeing, pottery painting, making persimmon dolls, and hand-weaving persimmon-themed crafts — an autumn-exclusive experience not to be missed.
