A day’s energy starts with breakfast, and a day’s good mood can also start with breakfast. A little after 9 a.m., when people kick off their busy day, “Buger Buger,” a breakfast shop tucked away in an alley near Wende MRT Station in Taipei, is known among local students and residents as a “famous breakfast spot.” Even more special is the owner’s creative twist: pairing the ice-fire pineapple bun with rich butter, making it one of over a hundred menu items and a beloved signature dish.

“Is the milk tea not hot enough? Okay, I’ll heat it up for you right away!” Buger Buger is a family-run shop involving the owner, his wife, her father, mother, and sister. The petite owner, Zhang Xici, who bears a striking resemblance to celebrity Ai Sha, gets teary-eyed when talking about their entrepreneurial journey: “Opening in an alley while maintaining high standards for our food was really tough at first. But my husband loves coffee and always felt he couldn’t get a good cup when eating breakfast out.” What began as a simple idea of “good coffee with breakfast” turned into a warm and thoughtful breakfast shop run by Zhang Xici and her husband.
In addition to roasting their own coffee beans, the breads at the shop are not mass-purchased but specially made by local bakeries. Before serving, they are lightly toasted, ensuring customers enjoy a crispy crust. Zhang Xici says both she and her husband have high expectations for food quality. Seven years ago, when they started their business, they aimed to create “their own breakfast shop.” Starting with the menu, they personally developed and brainstormed ideas, and now there are as many as 120 diverse choices; the signatureice-fire pineapple bunwas originally inspired by their desire to make a creative burger. Thinking of the pineapple buns favored by many girls, they added grilled ham and fresh cream. The crispy outer layer delivers a satisfying and delicious bite, and it has indeed become a hot seller.

▲Other signatures include egg rolls, French toast, Danish toast, croissants, and more.
The shop also offers an egg roll series featuring blueberry toast egg rolls—soft, tender egg wraps filled with rich cheese and paired with slightly tangy blueberry jam, creating a perfectly balanced flavor. Before the blueberry aroma fades, the freshly baked chicken croissant wafts over, with its crispy crust and hearty chicken filling, showcasing quality ingredients. Other options like club sandwiches, French toast, and Danish pastries are all available at Buger Buger. If you’re in Neihu, be sure to stop by and experience the joy of “starting your day with a warm breakfast and a great mood.”

%There are over 20 types of pineapple buns alone on the menu—truly astonishing.
