Will national parks start charging fees? The Ministry of the Interior stated that Yangmingshan, Kinmen, and Kenting have been selected as the first batch of national parks to implement fees this year, with a partial charging approach applied to specific attractions and parking lots within the parks.

The “Sunset at Guanshan” in Hengchun, once selected by foreign media as one of the world’s 12 most beautiful sunsets, was announced by the Hengchun Township Office earlier in March to require payment from July onward in order to increase tax revenue. Now, national parks are also set to charge fees. According to China Times, the Ministry of the Interior explained that the Legislative Yuan had previously not allowed national parks to collect entrance fees. Therefore, without violating the resolution of the Legislative Yuan, the ministry plans to charge for specific attractions within the parks.

The Ministry of the Interior pointed out that the current plan involves raising fees for existing paid parking lots and attractions, while free attractions and parking lots will also begin charging fees, with the hope of implementation by the end of the year.
