SOGO Zhongxiao Branch’s Kyoto Exhibition Debuts 11 Food Brands, Including a Michelin-Recommended Takoyaki

SOGO’s “Kyoto Exhibition” will be held from October 3 to October 15 at the Event Hall on the 12F and the Special Sales Area on the 11F of Zhongxiao Branch. The event features a total of 88 popular brands from Kyoto, Japan, including famous eateries and exquisite crafts. Among them, 30 are making their first appearance, including 11 popular food vendors such as a Michelin Guide-recommended takoyaki shop, two popular stores from Nishiki Market, and the century-old Japanese confectionery brand Tsuruya Yoshinobu.

SOGO’s Kyoto Exhibition officially opened today, bringing many popular and must-queue foods from Japan. Among them, Dotonbori Akakichi Takoyaki was selected as a Michelin Guide-recommended shop in both 2016 and 2017. In addition to the original flavor takoyaki (10 pieces per serving), they also offer broth takoyaki (5 pieces per serving) and cheese gratin takoyaki (7 pieces per serving). The latter two are limited to 30 servings per day, while all three flavors are priced at NT$200 per serving.

The new Shinkansen series launched by JR East Japan is a bestseller. For this SOGO Kyoto Exhibition, SOGO has specially collaborated with JR East Japan to offer multiple popular railway bento options. Customers who spend a certain amount can also enter a lottery to win a JR East Japan Rail Pass. The limited-edition “E6 Series Shinkansen Bento,” which combines a popular chicken bento with an elegantly packaged E6 Series Shinkansen box, is a Taiwan-exclusive flavor specially made for this event. It is exclusively sold at the SOGO Kyoto Exhibition, with only 30 available per day. On the first day, it sold out within 15 minutes.

In addition, SOGO has invited three vendors from Nishiki Market, known as the “Kitchen of Kyoto.” Besides Kyoto pickles from Nishiki Seiri, Ochiya no Koisaii and Mochitsukiya are making their first appearances. Ochiya no Koisaii’s Kyoto spicy oil furikake is a popular item for Japanese overseas shopping, while Mochitsukiya offers mochi with unique fillings and added seasoning ingredients. These items have long been sought after by customers both domestically and internationally.
