The Dapeng Bay Yacht and Sailing Event Kicks Off on April 18 – Free Registration for Canoe Fun Races

The “2015 Dapeng Bay Yacht and Sailing Series” will be held over three consecutive Saturdays and Sundays starting April 18 at the Sailboat Base in Dapeng Bay Binwan Park. Now in its 10th year, the sailing competition is an annual highlight in Taiwan’s sailing community and encourages public participation in events such as canoe fun races and sailing experiences.

The canoe fun races will begin on April 18 and 19, followed by the Cross-Bay Sailboat Championship to Little Liuqiu and the Bay Circuit Race. There will also be a rare display of yachts and sailboats, along with a white foam party – a first for the event and adapted from major international regattas – and free sailing experiences. This year’s Cross-Bay Sailboat Championship to Little Liuqiu is scheduled for April 25 and 26, marking a major annual event in Taiwan’s sailing scene.

The Penghu National Scenic Area Administration stated that this year’s “Dapeng Bay Yacht and Sailing Series” features a more extensive competition lineup. The online registration period for the canoe fun races has been extended to allow more people to take part. The races are divided into two categories: relay and fun races. The relay race requires teams of six, with at least two female members per team. The fun race is for teams of two, categorized into parent-child, men’s, and women’s groups. To encourage broader participation in the fun canoe races, not only are they completely free to enter, but the prize money for the relay race has been increased to NT$10,000 this year. Registration has been extended to April 10.

Additionally, for those eager to try water activities, anyone presenting five receipts from the current month can enjoy a free sailing or canoe experience. All collected receipts will be donated to social welfare organizations, supporting public-interest tourism.
