A new hotel has opened near Chiayi Railway Station. Beyond business hotels and five-star properties, a hotel group in southern Taiwan has launched a "Light Travel" series targeting backpackers, creating a new type of youth hostel in Chiayi and Tainan. The Chiayi branch of “ChengYi Light Travel” begins its trial operation today (1st), with the cheapest single bed priced at just NT$600, and an extra bed available for just an additional NT$1.

ChengYi Cultural Tourism plans to open youth hostels in Chiayi and Tainan this year. The “ChengYi Light Travel” located on Guangcai Street near Chiayi Railway Station started its trial operation today. The Light Travel offers double rooms, four-person rooms, and six-person rooms, with prices starting at NT$600 per bed. From April 1 to May 31 during the trial period, each bed can be booked for just NT$600, with an additional bed available for only NT$1 more. ChengYi Cultural Tourism says it plans to open a Tainan Light Travel by the end of May, with similar pricing to the Chiayi location, providing backpackers with a new accommodation option.
