Can it snow in spring? The “April Snow” of silk tree blossoms blankets the backyard garden of Taipei

In April, when spring is in full bloom, is it snowing in Neihu’s Baishihu, known as the “back garden of Taipei”? It turns out that the silk tree flowers, renowned as the “April Snow,” are currently in full blossom around the Baishihu Suspension Bridge and the Tongxin Pond area. The densely packed blossoms cover the treetops, creating a distant view that resembles a field of glistening white snow — a truly beautiful sight.

Huang Liyuan, Director of Taipei City Department of Urban Development, pointed out that starting from March, the silk trees planted along the walking paths are the first to bloom with their white flowers, and when the petals fall, it looks like a flurry of snow in the air. Additionally, the firecracker lilies and Taiwanese lilies will also bloom one after another during this period, making this time frame the “snow season” of Baishihu. The public is encouraged to seize the moment to enjoy the spectacular sight of blooming flowers and visit Baishihu to take photos.

In addition to the snow-white silk tree flowers, the light purple chinaberry blossoms have also covered the branches. Intermingling with the white silk tree blossoms, they create a stunning contrast and a serene atmosphere that feels almost intoxicatingly romantic. Visitors coming here to admire the flowers should remember to slow down, take their time, and fully appreciate the elegant beauty of the purples and whites vying for attention.

For those driving to Baishihu, they can enter via the Chenggong Road Interchange, turn left toward Donghu on Jinlong Road, then proceed along Bishan Road, and follow the signs to Bishanyan (parking lot). From there, visitors can walk to explore the area via the Baishihu Suspension Bridge. Alternatively, they can take public transportation from Neihu MRT Station by boarding bus routes Xiao 2 or Xiao 2 (shuttle bus).
