High cost-performance hundred-yuan dishes！The “Indian naan” that exudes a rich buttery aroma

Ever since Wisely stopped working in Zhongzhonghe, aside from taking little D to look for food around Sihao Park and Lehua Night Market, places like Xingnan Night Market and Myanmar Street haven’t been visited in ages！Luckily, I had some free time recently to visit Hulongdi for a prayer session, so I dropped by here for a meal. I picked the quite famous “Yunnan Liyuan Halal Snacks” and “Yuanbao Bubble Tea Shop,” both of which are very local and uniquely flavorful eateries on this street.

This “Yunnan Liyuan Halal Snacks” maintains the environmental character of an old-school eatery, and for Wisely, it really felt like stepping into a time tunnel. The shop has now been passed on to the next generation, so this was my first time trying their cooking—but the nostalgic atmosphere definitely added extra points.

I personally love their naan—the aroma that wafts out, plus the spread of bright yellow butter, is truly mouthwatering. In terms of texture, it’s flaky, crispy, and delicate, and the pairing with peas gives it a unique touch, though I personally prefer the sweet flavors more.

Prices have gone up slightly, but they’re still within a reasonable range, averaging around NT$100 per meal.

Their Indian naan comes in both sweet and savory flavors. It’s actually a bit different from what I had in India, but the taste is really delicious. I personally think the sweet flavor is better than the savory one～ I didn’t get to try the layered flatbread this time, so I’ll save that for next visit.

Their chicken baba si and thin bean paste are another signature dish. Both come with pickled vegetables for seasoning. The thin bean paste has a particularly unique taste; at first it feels a bit like miancha but not quite the same. Mixed with the aroma of cilantro and peanut bits along with the sauce, it actually has a pretty distinctive flavor！

And this “Yuanbao Bubble Tea Shop” is also a quite well-known snack spot. Originally, I just wanted to try the flavors, but I didn’t expect the food to be so good—it made me want to come back for a second visit.

Their layered flatbread paired with Indian milk tea is really great. Though the tea isn’t as strongly flavored as what I had locally, it still has a subtle aroma, and the bread tastes so good we finished it in no time.

The best dish, though, is their Indian paratha with curry. I’d say whether you look at texture, aroma, or portion size, the cost-performance is really high. The mildly spicy flavor isn’t too overwhelming, making you want to come back for more after trying it.
