Books can also travel – Donate books at Taoyuan Airport’s Book-Crossing Program and receive a small gift

Do you feel like reading a good book while waiting at the airport? To promote a reading culture and ensure travelers always have great books to enjoy, Taoyuan International Airport has launched a one-week book donation campaign starting today. Those who donate books during the event will receive a lovely little gift.

The book-crossing movement originated in Europe. Donors can attach a book-crossing label to their books and place them in public areas. Anyone can pick them up to read, and then put them back in public spaces for others to enjoy.

Since joining the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ “Book-Crossing Distribution Program” in 2014, Taoyuan Airport has collected nearly 3,000 quality books within a year, and has set upbook-crossing stations in four locations: the Parent-Child Reading Room in the Arrival Hall of Terminal 1, the Children's Play Area in the Arrival Hall of Terminal 2, the C5 Fly & Read Lounge in the Departure Area, and the D2 Peach Blossom Library,providing travelers with free access to books for reading.

To further support the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ “April 23 Book-Crossing Day” this year, from now until April 30, members of the public who donate books at the service desks in the Arrival Halls of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Taoyuan Airport will receive a special small gift. Taoyuan International Airport stated that the books collected in this campaign should be suitable for general readership, with no copyright issues, and must not be damaged, soiled, graffiti-marked, or otherwise unfit. Additionally, advertisements, brochures, magazines, textbooks, outdated reference books, religious materials, and any content deemed inappropriate for public decency are not accepted.
