Nepal earthquake: Tourism Bureau confirms all 56 Taiwanese tourists in 4 groups are safe

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, which also triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, has shocked the world. The Taiwanese government continues to monitor the situation of Taiwanese travelers in the area. On the afternoon of April 26, the Tourism Bureau announced that it has received reports from travel agencies confirming that there are currently 56 Taiwanese tourists in 4 groups in Nepal, all of whom are safe. However, arrangements for their return flights to Taiwan are still pending.

The Tourism Bureau has currently gathered the following information on the 56 Taiwanese tourists in 4 groups:

1. Dapeng United Travel Service – 11 tourists on a Himalaya mountaineering tour
The travel agency reported that the group is currently descending the mountain and will arrange their return to Taiwan after reaching the base.

2. Tungling Travel Service – 10 tourists
The group is currently at the airport, but it is not yet confirmed whether their flight will depart on time. Further updates will be provided once the departure time is confirmed.

3. Taipeng Travel Service – 24 independent travelers
All 24 travelers are safe and are currently making their way down to Kathmandu.

4. Yongsheng Travel Service – 11 independent travelers on a mountaineering tour
All 11 travelers are safe and are currently descending the mountain.
