A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on the 25th, causing over 3,400 deaths so far, shocking the world.ETtoday EBC News contacted Mr. Lü, who was traveling in Nepal at the time and had just flown back to Taiwan today (27th). He described:“Bricks and tiles were falling apart right in front of me, it was really terrifying, like something out of a movie.”

At the time of the strong quake, Mr. Lü was having lunch at a French restaurant. Recalling the scene, he still couldn’t hide his fear. He said:“Suddenly there was a strong tremor. I grabbed my passport bag and phone and ran outside. The French owner also told everyone to run. But it was hard to run—the shaking was so intense it was difficult to keep balance. I knew there was an open parking lot nearby, so I ran there. But nearby buildings were cracking, and debris kept falling down, just like in a movie.””

Mr. Lü hid in the open area with other evacuees. He told reporters that the streets in Nepal are really narrow, and at that moment, it truly felt like there was no place to escape—because any building collapsing could bury you alive, and debris kept falling from nearby structures. Screams from women and children echoed all around, and he himself was extremely terrified. Even after reaching the open area, it was too small to feel safe, and all he could do was pray that no more buildings would collapse.
