The Lake Biwa Grand Fireworks Festival, one of Japan's three major fireworks events, will be held one day earlier this year on August 7, the event’s organizing committee announced on April 30. Approximately 10,000 fireworks are expected to be launched from Otsu Port.
In previous years, the Lake Biwa Grand Fireworks Festival was held on August 8, but in 2015, August 8 fell on a Saturday. To avoid overcrowding and address safety concerns, the organizing committee decided to move the date up by one day. The festival typically attracts around 350,000 visitors each year.
The Lake Biwa Grand Fireworks Festival begins at 7:30 PM and ends around 8:30 PM. If the event is canceled due to bad weather, it will be postponed to August 10.
