Typhoon throws a wrench in the plans: The Laser Light & Water Screen Show at the Black Tuna Festival postponed to the 23rd

Due to the impact of Typhoon Hongxia, the Laser Light & Water Screen Show, originally scheduled to kick off this Saturday, May 16, as part of the Black Tuna Culture and Tourism Festival, has been postponed to May 23. Yan Fenglan, head of Pingtung County’s Department of Tourism and Communications, stated that many people have been inquiring about the show in recent days, but after considering the safety of the construction crew and equipment involved in the water screen display, the decision was made to postpone the event.

This is the first time the county government has introduced a laser light and water screen show, combining environmental sustainability with cutting-edge technology. Set along the Donggang River between Donggang Bridge and Jinde Bridge, the show will feature laser projections, water dances, and performances that recycle the river’s water through a circulation system. With lights, animated films, and music, the spectacle promises an amazing experience. Visitors can sit along the Donggang riverbank to enjoy the show, which is a highlight of this year’s Black Tuna Festival.

Yan Fenglan noted that the Laser Light & Water Screen Show was originally planned for every Saturday and Sunday evening from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM between May 16 and June 7, with one show every half hour. After the one-week postponement, to avoid overlapping with the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival races, an additional performance will be added on Fridays.
