Taichung Qingshui’s Traditional Flavor: Fragrant “Fried Chicken Cutlet” Boasts Daily Fresh Oil

Have I been writing about Qingshui street food a lot lately?

Because I’ve been there three times in a row, eating multiple stalls each time. Yet every time I go to write about it, another Qingshui netizen recommends more dishes I haven’t tried, so I’ve been super busy lately… This “Madonna Chicken Boba” was recommended by a friend. After finishing the “Nameless Meatball Soup on Guangfu Street,” he said the “Madonna Chicken Cutlet” across the street was also famous and told me to try it…

Turns out “Madonna Chicken Cutlet” isn’t actually called that—it’s named “Madonna Chicken Boba,” which probably means it’s even better than regular chicken cutlets… But I’ll just call it “Madonna Chicken Cutlet” because it’s easier to say. “Madonna Chicken Cutlet” is right across from the “Nameless Meatball Soup on Guangfu Street,” so it’s a perfect walk after eating the soup.

There are only these ten options—luckily I was already full, or I would’ve ordered a bunch of random stuff again…

They advertise using no reused oil and change the oil every day, so you can enjoy chicken cutlets in a healthier way… If you’re the first customer to witness the fresh oil being changed, you get a free chicken cutlet. (Pretty sincere, right?)

(Sigh… I wasn’t the first, so I had to pay for my chicken cutlet myself…)

Chicken Cutlet – NT$55The cost of living is really going up these days. Back in the day… I even ate a chicken cutlet for just NT$30. (Sigh~) It was raining heavily that day, not great for photos, so I quickly snapped one and then took a bite.

It was hot and delicious, with a crispy crust that wasn’t too thick, and the meat inside was juicy and tender… But I didn’t finish it that day, and when I brought it home, the texture was much worse… Best to eat it while it’s hot.

I also bought some fried fish cake and king oyster mushrooms…

King Oyster Mushrooms – NT$30I like the sweet potato starch coating—they tend to get greasy if they use flour. This one should also be eaten hot, not too oily, and the king oyster mushrooms were juicy and perfectly fried.

In conclusion… If netizens keep recommending more food, I’ll just get busier, and if I keep eating like this, I’ll probably get super fat. XD
