Escaping the hustle and bustle and retreating into the mountains is the dream life of many city dwellers—waking up to nature every day, freely wandering through the woods, and enjoying everything nature has to offer. Located on the northern side of Caoling in Shibi Scenic Area, Yunlin’s Gukeng District, there lies a stone bed stretching hundreds of meters wide—hailed as the most spectacular and largest natural stone wall in Taiwan. The area boasts rich and diverse geological landscapes, with numerous sites featuring majestic mountains and rugged rocks that showcase natural beauty.

In addition to its massive boulders and peculiar rocks, there are also several picturesque scenic spots to admire. The park features lush primeval forests of bamboo, cedar, and camphor trees. Among them, the Nine-Flower Tree Godwood is estimated to be 130 years old. Visitors can go hiking and enjoy a forest bath here, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind.

Currently, Yunlin County is planning to develop primitive forest leisure trails, a sunrise viewing platform, camping areas, barbecue zones, and a mountain training ground, aiming to make Shibi a comprehensive multifunctional leisure and vacation destination. This will establish it as a more complete ecological recreation area among Yunlin, Nantou, and Chiayi.

Aside from Shibi Scenic Area, Gukeng also offers other attractions such as Caoling Scenic Area in Wannian Canyon, the Million-Dollar Night View Café, the Forest Lovers’ Suspension Bridge, Gukeng’s Pink Castle Water Ripple Forest Hall, and the Gukeng Green Tunnel Station. Each spot showcases stunning natural wonders and ruins, making it an ideal destination for a two- to three-day nature trip.
