The Central Epidemic Command Center announced on April 15 that there were two new imported COVID-19 (Wuhan pneumonia) cases in Taiwan — a woman in her 60s (Case 394) and a woman in her 20s (Case 395), both returning from the United States. The total number of confirmed cases has now reached 395.

[Domestic Epidemic Situation]

Case 394 traveled to the U.S. to visit family from January 22 to March 30 and returned on March 30. Since 11 passengers on the same flight had already tested positive, she was reclassified from a home quarantine subject to a home isolation subject. The individual began experiencing symptoms such as body aches, stomachache, vomiting, chest tightness, and fever on April 6 and 7. She was tested on April 8 and 10 by health authorities and was confirmed positive today. A total of 12 people on that flight have now tested positive.

Case 395 had been studying in the U.S. since January 23. On April 4, she began experiencing coughing, nasal congestion, runny nose, and loss of smell. On April 13, upon entry, she voluntarily reported these symptoms and was tested at the airport, with confirmation today.

[Online Purchase of Children’s Masks]

The fifth phase of the Real-Name System 2.0 online reservation system opens for booking starting April 15. In addition to adult masks, a trial will begin for online sales of 3D children’s masks for ages 4–8. The public can reserve through the eMask mask pre-order system. Additionally, due to excessively high purchases of children’s masks by adults, age restrictions for purchasing children’s masks will be reinstated; only National Health Insurance (NHI) cards for individuals aged 16 and under will be eligible to buy children’s masks.

The CECC stated that after allowing adults to purchase children’s masks, statistics showed that nearly one-quarter of children’s masks were bought by adults. To ensure children’s priority access, age restrictions for purchasing children’s masks will be reinstated starting Thursday, April 23. Only NHI cards for those aged 16 and under will be allowed to purchase them. The eMask online pre-order system will align with the pick-up schedule starting April 23, with reservations for the fifth phase being taken from April 15 to 17 (pick-up from April 23 to May 6).

[Travelers from Europe and the U.S. Must Report in Advance]

To safeguard domestic epidemic prevention, starting at 00:00 Taiwan Time on April 18, travelers entering Taiwan who have been in Europe or the Americas within the past 14 days (starting 00:00 Taiwan Time on April 4) must proactively show documentation proving they meet home quarantine conditions before boarding. If their cohabitants include seniors aged 65 or over, children aged 6 or under, individuals with chronic illnesses (such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or lung disease), or if they do not have a private room (including a private bathroom), they must stay in an epidemic prevention hotel upon arrival. Those found to have submitted false information may be fined up to NT$150,000.
